Goodbye 2007
The 2007 HVGA season has officially come to a close. There are several changes on deck for the 08 season. Make note that the 08 season will begin the first weekend of February. Please read the final newsletter for all changes and update taking effect in 2008.
HVGA needs your help in 2008. We have 4 committee positions open. If you have the time and would like to make a difference then volunteer by contacting any of our current committee or board members.
Please note we'll be making updates to the web-site to reflect the rule changes. So if you read the something that isn't consistent with what's in the final newsletter, be assured that those changes will be made ASAP.
Lastly, mark your calendar for the annual Turkey Shootout scheduled for the December 1, 2007. Information and registration will be going out to members in the next few weeks.

Nakashima
A buddy of mine walked on and joined a foursome last month at his home course(Harding Park, SF, CA). He said one of the guy in the foursome was John Nakashima of Nakashima Golf. Nakashima Golf is based in the Bay Area and known throughout the golf industry as a low profile Japanese brand .... Some of the irons look pretty nice.

HVGA tournaments
To make the tournaments more competitive this year, HVGA has implemented a cut off line in both flights as followed:
1. A flight ceiling handicap cut off is 15. If you are a 16 and in A, HVGA will cap you at 15, but the course HCP adjustment can be applied, thus you might be a 16-17 for the tourney
depending on the course rating.
2. B flight ceiling handicap cut off is 30. If you are a 34 and in B, HVGA will cap you at 30, but the course HCP adjustment can be applied, thus you might be a 31-34 for the tourney
depending on the course rating.
3. There is a ceiling cut off, but not a base cut off. Meaning if I am a 16 and play in B, after the first tourney I shot 5 under net. HVGA apply the 10%, my new HCP is now a 13. We
need to make sure that the new 13 HCP stands. It does not get cap off at 15. The B player will now have a 13 HCP for the next tourney, but with the course adjustment, he might be
back to a 14-16 depending on course rating.
In-addition:
- Guest can only win contest holes.
- New Member(paid membership fee), can only win NET on the 3rd tourney, can win GROSS on 1st tourney and contest holes. Will have HCP established after 2nd tourney.
- Members who did not play last year, but is returning this year is considered a "new member" - return members from previous year, have an establish HCP, can win NET and GROSS and contest holes.
