Newsletter – April, 2012

Hello HVGA Golfers,

Thank you for coming out to the Quail Valley golf tournament to support our club. We had quite a turnout, and even had plenty of new members and guests to fill the tee sheet with. The course was rumored to have narrow fairways and many challenging obstacles, and based on some of the high scores posted, the rumors were true. Other than the winner of A-Flight who shot an exemplary score of 74, most A-Flighters struggled with breaking 90 on Eldorado. The story was similar in B-Flight, with a couple of players shooting in the 70′s and low 80′s. The conditions were mostly OK that day, but the course itself proved to be a challenge for many golfers. If we happen to return to this course in the future, let’s hope we will be more acquainted with the layout and improve on all our scores. Perhaps we just need to pick the winners’ brains to gain insight into strategies on how to score well on this course.

With that said, it is my pleasure to present the winners who proved they earned their places in the winner’s circle:

A Flight GROSS: Hien Vo
B Flight GROSS: Thanh N Tran

A Flight NET: Kevin Le
B Flight NET: Minh Le

C Flight GROSS: Tu Dang

Closest to Hole #2: Vinh Vu
Closest to Hole #6: Kevin Dang
Closest to Hole #8: Leo Pham
Closest to Hole #11: Kiet Luong
Closest to Hole #14: Hien Vo

As we prepare for the upcoming annual crawfish boil, the reported financial figures below will give us a great starting point.

Total Revenue: $12,870
Total Expenses: $8,737
Current Balance: $4,133

As mentioned, the Eagle Point tournament coming up on April 22nd will be a Sunday tournament and not the usual Saturday. The survey we conducted at the end of last year suggested that many members are open to playing on Sunday, therefore, this tournament will determine whether Sunday tournaments will be a regular event for our club or not.

Please sign up as early as possible to reserve your spot on the tee sheet. The Sunday following the Eagle Point tournament will be the annual HVGA Crawfish Boil. A sign up request will be sent out shortly, so please RSVP as soon as possible to make sure we will provide enough food for everyone. The May tournament will then follow the Saturday after the Crawfish Boil. It will be a busy three weekend in a row for HVGA golfers, therefore, pencil in these dates to make sure you can show up for all three events.

Hope to see everyone out golfing and eating mud bugs soon.

Newsletter – March, 2012

Hello golfers,

After weeks of waiting out the rain, we finally got our chance to show off our golf games to ring in the new golf year. However, it still wasn’t a walk in the park even though we played on the all so familiar River Ridge Golf Course. As expected, winds were howling, conditions were tough, and green speeds differ from the front nine to the back to test all aspects of our game. The winners of all categories definitely earned their keep as they battled their way to victory on this tested day. HVGA congratulates the following winners and recognize their hard-earned achievements.

A special recognition goes out to CT for making a hole-in-one on the Par 3 hole # 6. It’s not often someone makes a hole-in-one during a tournament, AND finish with a winning NET trophy. Congratulations on a job well done!

A Flight GROSS: Thinh Vu
B Flight GROSS: Bang Le

A Flight NET: Thanh Trinh CT
B Flight NET: Viet Do

C Flight GROSS: Kevin Trinh

Closest to Hole #4 (River): John Pham

Closest to Hole #6 (River): Thanh Trinh CT (Ace)
Closest to Hole #8 (River): Vinh P Nguyen
Closest to Hole #2 (Ridge): Mike Bui

Our financial status in good standing as evident in the following numbers:

Total Revenue (collected membership & tourney fees): $7,165
Total Expenses (trophies, golf balls, tourney fees): $5,606
Current Balance: $1,559

Our next tournament will be at Quail Valley Golf Course, El Dorado Course. We hope to see everyone there, and please try to come out early. There was a putting contest held right before the start of the last tournament where everyone had a blast with, so don’t miss any events that may come up on the next.

Newsletter – February, 2012

Welcome, HVGA golfers!

HVGA would like to welcome new golfers to the 2012 golf season, and also welcome back HVGA members from previous years. Now that we’ve had plenty of rest from several months of “HVGA down time,” it’s time to prepare for another exciting year’s worth of good golf, starting with the season opener at Eagle Point Golf Course. This year’s line up of tournament golf courses is just as enticing as last year’s lineup, and more. Invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers to come out and join us at each tournament to expand HVGA’s reach across this great city. It is our goal to ultimately turn HVGA into a household name.

Recently, the HVGA Committee held a meeting and invited all members to attend and plan for the upcoming golf season. Several members showed up and shared their views. Among them were Thomas Nguyen, Vinh P Nguyen, Johnny Dang and Alex Nguyen. The HVGA Committee would like to extend our gratitude to these members for devoting their time to improve the club. Many decisions that were made during this meeting dictate the policies for this year. We will continue to invite all members to key meetings throughout the year, so if your schedule permits, please join us so we can all put our heads together in an effort to improve the club. Thank you in advance for all your efforts.

Because the HVGA Committee has had to make many decisions for the club in the past, we decided to involve members’ inputs for some of the decisions that will affect policies and procedures for 2012 and beyond. To that end, the committee solicited a survey on our website that was announced to all our members via email at the end of last year. The results from the survey revealed many of our members’ opinions that helped the committee to implement a few changes for 2012. One such change is the trophy designs. You will be seeing trophy design changes as soon as February or March of this year, and hopefully, you’ll be holding one in your hands. A good percentage of those who took the survey thought having a monthly tourney on a Sunday instead of Saturday was a good idea, so we will try to schedule a monthly tourney on Sunday either this year or the next. There’s also talk of a gimmie putt, but that topic may need more time to plan for.

For the 2012 season, HVGA is starting with a zero balance due to extra spending in 2011 events in an effort to make them more fun for everyone. We spent more money than usual on the Crawfish Boil event to make sure we don’t run out of food like previous years. We also spent more money at the yearend dinner to provide better menu and more prizes. We also handed out a few more trophies this year to recognize more achievements that we haven’t in the past. All-in-all, it was money well spent since everyone had such a blast at those events. We will try to identify more sources of revenue and donations this year to continue our traditions, and still carry over a positive balance for next year’s budget or for use at the end of the year “fun” tourneys.

Hope everyone will have a great start for the golf season 2012, and even a better finish.

Newsletter – October, 2011

Greetings HVGA golfers,

Less than a week away before we take what we learned this year to our Vietnamese Golf Association brothers in Dallas and compare notes with them. I’m confident that our notes and playbacks are more detailed and extensive, which will result in rewards in the form of two metal trophies. Before that, though, I want to share with you the exciting events leading to the Texas Cup competition in Dallas on October 8-9, 2011.

First, the exciting Club Championship tournament held at The Wilderness Golf Course in September. Back-to-back rounds of golf on the same day is a true test of focus and resilience, and the Club Champions proved they’ve got what it takes to rise above all others in the field. Congrats to all the Club Champion winners in all flights.

A-Flight GROSS Club Champion: Hien Vo
A-Flight NET Club Champion: Kiet Luong
B-Flight GROSS Club Champion: Joe Bui
B-Flight NET Club Champion: Hai Nguyen
C-Flight GROSS Club Champion: Huy Nguyen

The next memorable event was the Club Championship Awards and Year End Dinner. Here, we recognized all Club Championship Winners, announced Texas Cup team members, raffled off numerous golf items, and even had a few “closet singers” came out and entertained all the members and their families. It is a regular occasion to be recognized by our peers as winners in each of the monthly tournaments, but it is a special treat to have our families cheering for us as we are recognized for our achievements. The addition of the band this year made the event even more enjoyable than it already is. Mingling between members and families brought us closer as a club. We hope to see more members and families join us at this event in the years to come.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Kraig Nguyen, Kevin Le and Anh John for making the Club Championship and Year End Dinner memorable. Kraig donated the R11 Driver that was a hot raffle item, Kevin and Anh John facilitated the appearance and performance of the one-man-band that provided plenty of entertainment. We hope to see more similar donations and efforts for next year. Again, thank you for your generosity.

A few members had requested the HVGA Committee to show the current balance of the club to show their concern for the club’s financial health. We will abide by their requests by showing the financial status of the club now, and more regularly from here on out. Hopefully, after seeing the financial reports, the members can become more involved in generating more income for the club to give us a chance to serve our members better. So far, our efforts have been to make sure we have enough for all our events, with not very much carry over balance. We will need more member involvement to increase our income in order to give back more to our members and to the community. One way to achieve this is for members to show up at the year-end meeting to help plan for next year’s activities. Emails will be sent out to invite members for this meeting. Another way to hear members’ opinions is through the use of a poll/questionnaire. This method is being planned, and will be announced as well to al members. Please keep an eye out for these announcements for your chance to improve the club.

Below is a brief summary of the club’s financial status to our members. If you want more details, please get in touch with either myself or the treasurer(Nhan Tran).

$3,400 (current balance)
$2,400 (less Texas Cup expenses paid by HVGA)
$895 (less prize golf balls and Club Championship trophies)
$105 (balance after Texas Cup)

Finally, let’s wish all the Texas Cup Team Members best of luck as they travel to Dallas to try and keep the Texas Cup here in Houston. The friendly feud between the Dallas Fort Worth Vietnamese Golf Association and Houston Vietnamese Golf Association is a tradition we all look forward to every year. It is a true testimony of friendly rivalry between two clubs with a common objective, which are separated only by geographical locations. Regardless of the outcome of the event, weíd like to thank the DFWVGA team for all their hard work hosting the event this year.

Until then, keep working on your game and we’ll see you again soon on the golf course!

Newsletter – August, 2011

Greetings to all,

Hope everyone is enjoying the challenging golf season, brought about by the scorching heat this summer. We’ve had record high temperatures all around Houston this year, but that didn’t stop our members from recording low rounds of excruciating golf!

Congratulations to winners of High Meadow Ranch tourney:

A-Flight GROSS: Duy Tran
A-Flight NET: Kraig Nguyen
B-Flight GROSS: Thinh Ngo
B-Flight NET: Edward Nguyen
C-Flight GROSS: Huy Nguyen

CTP No 5: Simon Nguyen
CTP No 9: Johnny Dang
CTP No 11: Cuong Trinh
CTP No 16: Mike Nguyen

Congratulations also to winners of Eagle Point tourney:

A-Flight GROSS: Alex Nguyen
A-Flight NET: Jim Davis
B-Flight GROSS: Jimmy Dang
B-Flight NET: Justin Nguyen
C-Flight GROSS: Kevin Dang

CTP No 3: Jim Davis
CTP No 8: Kevin Le
CTP No 12: Binh Nguyen
CTP No 15: Vinny Nguyen

At the High Meadow Ranch tourney, A flight players dominated the course and penciled in rounds in the low 80′s and high 70′s. At Eagle Point, however, it’s the B Flight players who put up several rounds in the 70′s to prevail over the course. We’re extremely proud of all the efforts and dedication our members are putting into the game to show that HVGA means business!

The Texas Cup Committee also started the practice rounds to prepare for the Texas Cup 2011 against our Dallas counterparts, so please respond to the email invites if you are eligible. Let’s get reacquainted with the team competitions so we can bring it to Dallas this year.

Coming up soon is the exciting Club Championship tourney at the Wilderness G.C. The course is in excellent shape, despite the heat, but we should all be familiar with the high temperatures by now. Bring plenty of drinks to keep hydrated, and don’t forget to bring all your skills as well :). The Club Championship this year will no doubt be the ultimate test of endurance and concentration, so good luck to all.

Also coming up soon is the year-end dinner and Club Championship award ceremony. Please invite your family and fellow HVGA members to help us wrap up this year in a warm atmosphere. The infamous raffle prizes this year will include a Taylormade R11 driver, among other great many prizes, so please RSVP precisely the correct number of attendees and let’s celebrate the end of a fun season together!

Newsletter – June, 2011

Hello fellow HVGA golfers,

Golf this year has been extremely interesting compared to past years in HVGA. Not only we’re driving all over the outskirts of Houston to play on difficult courses, but we’re also facing the elements more so now than ever! We played in winds in excess of 40 mph on more than one occasion, faced the blistering heat even before the summer months started, and dealt with droughts that turned fairways into clay tennis courts. Nevertheless, the winners at Meadow Brook Farms showed that they can persevere even in the toughest of conditions. Hien Vo (Gross) and Alex Nguyen (Net) from A-Flight, Tuan Tran (Gross) and Joseph Nguyen (Net) from B-Flight, and Kevin Dang from C-Flight all played exemplary rounds and surpassed everyone’s expectations. Closest-to-the-pin contest winners CT, Mike Ta, Jim Davis and Dang Le also showed off their shot accuracy on the difficult par 3′s at Meadow Brook Farms GC.

Also congrats to winners who went home with trophies from West Fork GC: from A-Flight Jim Davis at Gross and Jim Lam at Net, from B-Flight Kevin Le at Gross and Thomas Nguyen at Net, and finally from C-Flight Angelo Huynh at Gross. Vinh P Nguyen, Thomas Nguyen, M.H. Ngo and Kevin Le also took home closest-to-the-pin contest prizes that they can use for the next tournament. West Fork GC gave the A-Flight and C-Flight players plenty of challenge, but was brought down to its knees by the B Flight players who posted three Gross scores in the 70′s and plenty in the low 80′s. A Shout-out to all the players who showed the golf course that we can handle its challenges and still come out on top.

The closer we get to October, the closer we are to facing our counterparts from Dallas again. This time last year, the Texas Cup Committee had already started to rally the players to start preparing for the TXCup competitions. We were relentless in our pursuit of an ambitious goal of winning both trophies, and all of the preparation and practice paid off in dividends. I am challenging our players to show that our victory last year was not a fluke by capturing the same trophies we hoisted over our heads in 2010. To that end, I encourage all players to start trying out possible TXCup partners to identify a good match and develop team chemistry like we did last year. If we work as hard as last year, then there’s no reason we will not succeed like last year.

I hope everyone is working hard on their game and plays plenty of golf, but let’s not forget to have fun out there. We all have different reasons why we play golf, so let’s make HVGA a sanctuary where we all can come together to share this great game. Thank you everyone for participating in our tournaments thus far, and hope to see you in upcoming ones as well!

Newsletter – April, 2011

Hello fellow HVGA golfers,

I would like to start by thanking all the committee members who facilitated a great turnout and ensured another successful HVGA golf tournament at Moody Gardens GC, and also would like to thank all HVGA members and guests for coming out and joining us on that beautiful day. We were expecting plenty of wind at a average course, but what we ended up with was pleasant weather and a well-groomed, beautiful golf course! Despite the long drive, I hope some of you will play this course again if it reappears on our golf tournament schedule in the future.

The golf course was in great condition, but it doesn’t take away anything from our winners. Congratulations are in order for the Gross Trophy winners: Hien Vo, Thanh Tran and Allen Pham, and also for Net Trophy winners: Alex Nguyen and Minh Do. Notable are the closest to the pin winners: Ted Kates, John Pham, Tuan Nguyen, Minh Do and Dennis Quinio. Keep up the good work, winners!

There are plenty of exciting events coming up this month and next, so please check your schedule and set aside some time to participate in them.

- Hope Initiative is hosting their annual, four-man scramble golf tournament on April 30th at Quail Valley Golf Course, so please participate in the event if you can. We’ve been supporting their honorable cause for a long time running, and will continue to do so in years to come.

- Our next monthly HVGA golf tournament in May will be held at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Course, so please keep an eye out for practice round discount announcements (if available).

-Following the May tournament will be the infamous annual HVGA Crawfish Boil, held at Leo’s house in Rosharon, TX. Please sign up for this event and bring your family to meet ours. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to get to know one another in a warm and friendly environment. The crawfish boil requires much hard work to organize, so please contact me or any of the committee members to volunteer for setting up and cleaning up.

HVGA sponsorship is another hot topic I would like to share with everyone. Currently, our main sponsors have been members who either donate their time, money and effort. Johnny Dang, for example, donates golf balls to all closest-to-the-pin contests in each of our tournaments. Leo graciously hosts the annual HVGA Crawfish Boil at the expense of his home and his time. Please help me thank these sponsors for their generosity and hospitality. We would like to reach out to more sponsors, members and non-members alike, so we can give more back to you: the members. With that said, I would like to call your attention to our website, HVGA.com, and visit the “resources” page. This page will house the names, logos and links of all our sponsors who donate to the club. If you know of any businesses that would like to get their names out to the Vietnamese golfing community, they now have a venue to do so. Our website generates a ton of traffic on the internet (facebook, twitter, etc.), so I’m sure non-golfers also frequent our website since our reputation has been building up over the years. In addition, we will also accept donations that can result in banners during our monthly golf tournaments. Please visit our website and contact me or any committee members for more details.

Lastly, an unfortunate event took place during the Moody Gardens tournament that needs to be addressed. A foursome mistakenly teed-off at the incorrect tee box, which resulted in a disqualification because they finished the hole and did not realize their mistake until it was too late (Rule 11-5 Playing from Wrong Teeing Ground). Although we follow USGA rules, I’m sure everyone was sympathetic of their mistake. The rules committee and HVGA committee will meet to decide what we should do in the event this takes place again in future tournaments. The result of the decision will be communicated before the start of the next tournament. On the bright side, the disqualification was voluntarily made by the group who committed the penalty, which makes us look good as an organization. The Pros aren’t the only ones calling penalties on themselves, which makes this THE most prestigious sport of all times.

Have a great month, practice well, play well, and hope to see you all at Meadowbrook Farms in May!

Newsletter – January, 2011

Greetings to all,

First of, I would like to welcome everyone back from a long winter hibernation from HVGA golf competitions, even though non-HVGA golf competitions were plentiful since the end of the regular and TXCup seasons. Hope everyone has had a relaxing and joyful holiday in 2010. However, it’s time to dust off those woods and clean the dirt off of the iron groves. It’s time to to saddle up and get ready for the kick off to an exciting 2011 HVGA golf season, full of promises from victories in 2010.

First things first: if you noticed, this newsletter is coming from the desk of Kiet lUong and not “Mr. Prez” Quyen Phan (aka Carlos). We’ve had a “changing of the guards” since the 2008-2010 HVGA Committee members have successfully fulfilled their terms. The 2011-2013 Committee members would like to thank them for great leadership and dedication, and hope to continue their precedence of exellence and goal focus throughout our terms as well. Please visit our website for updated HVGA Committee membership.

Coming off of a complete victory at the 2010 TXCup event, I’d like to congratulate and thank everyone who participated and supported the club before, during and after this event. From the TXCup players who practiced diligently to the TXCup captains and TXCup Committee members who planned and strategized our way to victory in both flights, the club as a whole came out on top in a big way. I knew our close defeat in Lake Charles against the Gulf Coast VGA was testament to our increased skills, based on landslide losses against them in the past, but dominating the 2010 TxCup event was unexpected by everyone. Let’s continue to improve on our games so that we can proudly represent HVGA in the upcoming competitions throughout the year against other clubs. Our goal should be making our presence known in the VGA tournament in Vegas, and bring home a trophy that others will envy.

The 2011-2012 Committee has already held a couple of meetings to plan for the upcoming 2011-2012 golf season, and out of those meetings came several changes to help improve our club. One of those changes is the implementation of a rule to help speed up play during our monthly competitions. Please abide by these rules to help avoid the six-hour golf rounds that deter some of us from playing in future tournaments. The tournament rules and changes can be found on our website.

Another exciting news is the 2011 golf courses that our tournament coordinator was able to negotiate for the upcoming season. Our first venue will be at Redstone Golf Course, home of the renowned Shell Houston Open. Yes, we get to play where the pros play! This year, we will compete on some of the better and new courses around Houston, including Moody Gardens, High Meadow Ranch, Eagle Point, etc. Please check the website for updates.

It was a great turn out for our VIP night at Golfsmith. Many thanks to Nhan Tran for setting it up and Justin Nguyen for the photos.

Our Texas (HVGA and DFWVGA) team came very close to bring home the VGA National title but fell a few points short! Congratulation Mr.Bao Nguyen. He placed First for the Master Flight and Second for the B Flight. Hopefully we will have more participants next year and bring the trophy home!

It less than a month to till our Club Championship Tournament! That also means we’re near the end of HVGA golf season! This year I saw a lot of improvement by our members across all flights. It would be very hard for the Committee to pick out The Most improved player.

Again, thanks to Jonny Dang Fine Custom Jewelry and Golfsmith for there support this season. You can contact any of our committee members to inquire about sponsorship opportunities.

Thanks again for your supports of HVGA. Feel free to contact any of our committee members if you have any questions, comments or concerns.

Newsletter – July, 2010

For more than a week, we were wondering if the rain was ever going to stop! It’s rained every for the last ten days that no one has had a chance to work on their golf game. The good news was that the rain finally stopped long enough for our July tournament at Woodforest.

The talk of Woodforest was heat and the fast greens! Even all that rain could slow down those green running about 10 on the stipmeter.I think I broke my record for 3 and 4 putts for one round.

Amazingly, most of our members overcame both the heat and the fast greens. I would like to congratulate the July tournament winners:

Summer wont officially arrive until the 21st but our June Tournament at River Ridge was so HOT that it made us feel like we’re in the peak of the season!

With the heat index over 100 plus degree, along with an afternoon tee time and almost no wind…it was a perfect recipe for a heat stroke. I was so happy to see that everyone was fine at the end of the day. Surprisingly, few of our members didn’t even feel the heat or they used it to their advantage.

Many thanks to Thanh Tran, Ha Huynh and The Dang Brothers for our first match play Tournament. As soon as we finish this, we can start the next one. I think everyone is enjoying this event it.

Talking about luck! Please RSVP with Nhan Tran for our VIP night out at Golfsmith on Westheimer, August 3, 6:00-8:00 pm. Participants can register to a R9 driver at the door. Join us for a fun filled night!

It was pouring when I left the house and I saw a smile on her face when I kissed my wife goodbye. “Good luck honey! Don’t drown out there!”. What happen? The Weather man said it won’t rain until the next day! I love their job! Wrong half of the time and still get the paycheck.

The rain finally stopped when we teed-off but the winds and the chill caught our members off guard. Some had wished they’d pack some rain gear that day. But our members are very familiar with the course and with one or even two club winds, it made it very challenging. The first casualty was yours truly with two balls in the water on the 16th. I finished my tournament hopes early even with another 7 holes to go. It was an awful feeling!!!

As usual our members came out strong! Congratulation to the winners of HVGA April golf Tournament at Southwyck:

Just to remind everyone for the VGA Tournament in Las Vegas on Aug 13th-15th at The Revere GC. I hope many of the members can come. Last year we teamed up with DFW and took second in the regional title.

Again, thanks to Johnny Dang Fine Custom Jewelry and Golfsmith for their support this season. You can contact any of our committee members to inquire about sponsorship opportunities.

On a side note. If anyone is interested in Photography, please join me and my Photography Club for our annual exhibition at the Palette Gallery (10925 Beechnut near Wilcrest) from May 8th to May 15th, 11:00 am – 7:30 pm.

Thanks again for your supports of HVGA. Feel free to contact me or any of our committee members if you have any questions, comments or concerns.

I will see you at the Crawfish party.

Newsletter – March, 2010

We were treated to a beautiful day for our second HVGA Tournament at Evergreen. With cool fall day with sunshine, we couldn’t have ask for more except maybe a bit less wind. The course was short and looked easy but it was very tricky even if you had played there few times. Just one mistake could have taken you out of tournament contention and I think some of our members and guest would agree with me on this.

No matter how tricky the course was or how chilly it became when the winds were gusting during the last few holes with the sun setting, everyone managed to finish with some day daylight to spare. I would like to congratulate the March winners:

A-Flight GROSS: Hien Vo
A-Flight NET: Nhan Tran
B-Flight GROSS: Truong Nguyen
B-Flight NET: Tuan Tran
C-Flight GROSS: Kevin Dang

I also would like to congratulate the contest winners:

CTP No. 2: Kevin Le
CTP No. 8: Thinh Vu
CTP No. 14: Dang Le
CTP No. 17: Simon Nguyen

Oakhurst was scheduled for April but due to poor course conditions, the committee decided to move our April Tournament to the Southwyck. Please join us again on April 10th for our third HVGA Tournament.

With the inconsistent weather that we’ve been experiencing lately, our annual HVGA crawfish boil will be rescheduled as well. It will be on Sunday May 2nd at Leo’s house. I hope I will see all of you and your family at our party. We will have the detail posted soon on HVGA website.

HVGA would like to thank Johnny Dang Fine Custom Jewelry and Golfsmith for their support this season. I would like to encourage our members to support HVGA. You can contact any of our committee members to inquire about sponsorship opportunities.

Thanks again for your supports of HVGA. Feel free to contact me, or any of our committee members if you have any questions, comments or concerns.

I will see you in April at Southwyck.

Newsletter – February, 2010

After many months of bad weather – rain and cold, the sun came out just in time for our first tournament at Tour 18. Even with the fairways a little soggy, we didn’t let that bother us. Overall we still enjoyed a good day of golf and it was nice to see all the returning members and the new faces to HVGA. If you enjoined Tour 18 then wont want to miss any of our up coming Tournaments. Please go to our website for more detail.

The newly formed C-flight is off to a good start with more participation then we expected. The gross winner could probably give some of our “A” guy a run for their money. Congratulation to Phong Dang!

I also would like to congratulate Thuan Nguyen; Loi Nguyen; Thinh Ngo; Vinh P Nguyen for your laser sharp iron and the A & B flight winners Hien Vo; Thinh Vu; Simon Nguyen and Jimmy Dang.

This year Johnny Dang has committed to a full-season sponsorship with HVGA. This is very special for our club to have the support of Dang. Thank you so much!

Also in the works is support from Golfsmith to sponsor our monthly Tournaments. This is still in the works and we’ll keep you updated. Many thanks to the our committee members for their hard work each month.

Thank you to all the HVGA members that came out and supported The Hope Initiative Golf Tournament. As always, HVGA team clinched the first place!

Thanks again for your support of HVGA and feel free to contact me or any of the committee members if you have questions, comments or concerns.

I will see you on the March Tournament at Evergreen!
